  • Cancer Information Seeking

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she has ever looked for cancer information from any sources. (Questions HC09 in HINTS1, CA08 in HINTS2, and HC08 in HINTS 3.)

  • Health Information Seeking

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she has ever looked for information about health or medical topics from any source. (Question HC01 in HINTS3.)

  • Smoking Increases Chance of Cancer

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks smoking increases their chance of cancer a lot. (Question CK13 in HINTS 1.)

  • Lung Cancer Causes the Most Deaths

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that lung cancer causes the most deaths. (Question CK15 in HINTS 1.)

  • Ever Heard of a Sigmoidoscopy or Colonoscopy

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she has ever heard of a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy. (Question CC15 in HINTS1.)

  • Age Starting Sigmoidoscopy or Colonoscopy Exams

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that at age 50 people supposed to start having sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy exams. (Question CC24 in HINTS1.)

  • Heard About HPV

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she has ever heard about HPV. (Question CV11 in HINTS2.)

  • FDA Regulates Tobacco

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she believes that the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates tobacco products in the U.S. (Question J11 in HINTS4-2 and I9 in HINTS4-3.)

  • E-cigarettes Less Harm

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that electronic cigarettes is less harmful or much less harmful compared to smoking cigarettes. (Question J10 in HINTS4-2 and I7 in HINTS4-3.)

  • Hookah Less Harm

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that smoking tobacco using a hookah is less harmful or much less harmful compared to smoking cigarettes. (Question I8 in HINTS4-3.)

  • Breast Cancer More Common

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she strongly agree or somewhat agree that breast cancer is more common than lung cancer. (Question N5f in HINTS4-2.)

  • Heard HPV Vaccine

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she has ever heard of the cervical cancer vaccine or HPV shot. (Question K1 in HINTS4-3.)

  • HPV STD

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that HPV is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). (Question K3 in HINTS4-3.)

  • HPV Go Away

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that HPV will often go away on its own without treatment. (Question K5 in HINTS4-3).

  • HPV Cause Cancer

    A person 18 years of age or older must have reported that he/she thinks that HPV can cause cervical cancer. (Question K3 in HINTS4-3.)
