Recognitions and Awards

  • Statistical Partnerships among Academe, Industry and Government (SPAIG) Award
    American Statistical Association

Awarded to the six organizations including University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, National Cancer Institute, National Center for Health Statistics, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, and Information Management Services for this joint project. The SPAIG award recognizes outstanding partnerships established between academe and business, industry and government organizations.

The SPAIG award cites an outstanding partnership, which has resulted in publication of improved small area estimates for cancer risk factors and cancer screening behavior, improved mathematical analysis techniques of survey data for survey organizations, development of advanced techniques for combining results from multiple surveys that can be adapted to other surveys, and obtaining publications and grant opportunities in relatively new research areas for junior researchers.
